Journey: Homepage

Info

Journey is a loyalty program built for travelers who choose character over chains, uniting boutique hotels and independent residences under one membership. I designed our Webby-nominated homepage to introduce that world to new visitors, celebrating the brand, explaining the loyalty program and membership benefits, and putting a spotlight on the properties within our Alliance, all through modern design and beautiful animation.

A Cinematic Entry Point

The goal of this section was simple: drive users to search our properties while explaining the loyalty program. I took a familiar UI component, found on most booking sites, and elevated it with a mobile-first design. A background video by Dan Bonner showcases our properties in a stylized way, using quick cuts and an analog feel.

Making a Long Page Feel Effortless on Mobile

Knowing the page was going to be lengthy, I tightened up the animations and built our visually-heavy sections mobile-first. I created clear steps explaining how the program worked, using carousels, video, and simple layouts to carry users through the story from top to bottom.

The Story Told at Full Scale

The added viewport space let the visual storytelling really come into play. I used smooth section transitions and tasteful animation to keep the story feeling dynamic, so users would scroll and wonder what was coming next.

John Sutton

CEO & Founder, Journey

Dustin is an amazing asset to the Journey team and has led Journey to be considered one of the most creative and forward leaning brands in a luxury hospitality industry obsessed with visual appeal. Beyond his taste and eye for design, Dustin has leaned in fully to leveraging the latest in AI for Journey and helped our teams benefit from properly structured design standards, guides, and markdown files plus Figma structures the agents can actually use to develop assets rapidly, brining our time to market for features down to minutes from days or weeks but maintaining consistency vs AI slop.
